Entry Into Enclosed Spaces

To give those who have no seatime, or existing personnel of any rank or job role who previously have carried out work at sea (whether in a professional seafaring role or any other role), training to meet the requirements set out in:
The Merchant Shipping (Entry into Dangerous Spaces) Regulations 1988 (SI 1988 No. 1638) (the Regulations).

IMO Resolution A.864 (20) Recommendations for entering enclosed spaces aboard ships (adopted on 27 November 1997).
The Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seamen (COSWP).

Course Duration: 1 day practical course.

Training Centre: St James Hotel, St James Square, Grimsby DN31 1XZ.

Notes:
Learners must be fit enough to participate in all aspects of the training, in particular, learners must be aware of the practical aspects of the training and the physically demanding nature of some of the exercises involving live fires and the use of breathing apparatus.
If there is any doubt as to an individuals ability to participate in such exercises an appropriate risk assessment should be carried out to determine what is required to proceed in a safe manner. UK ENG1 medical certificate or equivalent, must be provided as an indicator of fitness prior to course commencement.
