Medical First Aid

The aim of this course is to give seafarers who are designated to provide medical first aid on board ship the essential education and training to meet the knowledge, understanding and proficiency in medical first aid and immediate first aid in event of an accident or illness on board.

Course Duration: 4 days.

Training Centre: St James Hotel, St James Square, Grimsby DN31 1XZ.

Fee: £370.00 exc VAT (inc lunch and refreshments).

There are no pre-requisites in terms of prior training. Learners who hold a certificate in Elementary First Aid must undertake this training in full in order to update and extend their knowledge and skills in current medical first aid procedures.

Training centres must ensure, through pre-course information and screening, that learners are fit to participate in all aspects of the training. If there is any doubt as to an individual’s ability to participate in such exercises an appropriate risk assessment should be carried out to determine what is required in order to proceed in a safe manner. Training centres may consider utilising the ENG1 medical certificate, or equivalent, as an indicator of fitness.

As per MCA requirements delegates or companies booking on behalf of delegates must ensure that one of the below forms of personal identification is available and to be presented at course registration:

Passport

Discharge Book (or equivalent National document recording a person’s sea service)

National I.D. Card.
